Overview of Programs at Andrews House

Andrews House provides services to the community through these outreach programs:

The Ohio Benefit Bank, (www.obb.ohio.gov) is a free-of-cost, web-based program that helps to connect families in need with economic stimulus filing and access to public benefits. At Andrews House, individuals can work with a trained OBB counselor to complete the application which will begin the process of gaining benefits such as medical assistance, child-care assistance, and nutrition wellness programs such as food stamps. Meetings by appointment only.

Second Fridays, run by our partner churches, serves hot restaurant-style meals to those in need on the second Friday of every month. Meals also are packaged for carry out. Last year we provided 1200 free dinners to the community.

Third Thursdays offers a free meal of soup, sandwich and dessert served from 5pm to 6pm in the Andrews House dining room. This is a walk-in only meal.

Grace Medical Clinic, a free weekly clinic that serves children and adults who lack adequate health insurance and who need basic medical care.  Licensed doctors and nurses are on hand and will treat a wide variety of basic aliments and provide well-child checkups as well. It is operated by Grace Church, Powell on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Andrews House.

Free computer and Internet classes are offered through our Computer Learning Center. We also partner with the Delaware Juvenile Court's after-school program. Open access hours throughout the week provide free use of technology for all.  A series of classes designed for the beginner have been scheduled and will begin in January.

We are the location for the Interfaith Legal Services clinic that provides free legal advice from local attorneys. These clinics are held the third Tuesday evening of each month starting at 5:30 p.m. and are open to those who otherwise cannot afford a consultation with an attorney. Local attorneys volunteer their time for this program.  Clients who make less than 250% above poverty will qualify for this free program.

Our Supervised Visitation Program provides a trained monitor to oversee visits or exchanges for families that are court-ordered or otherwise need supervision with their children.

We also provide low-cost rental office space to community agencies including Action for Children, Arthritis Foundation, Alzheimer's Association, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Concerned Citizens Against Homelessness, The Salvation Army, Unity in Community, and Connections, the Delaware Volunteer Center. In addition, we are the incubator for two small businesses: Home Instead and Delaware Insurance Advisors.
